Anxiety Therapy

How you may be experiencing anxiety

As an adult, you may be struggling with the following worries and anxiety:

  • Am I doing enough at my job?  Will I be the next one laid off or fired?
  • I could be doing better with my grades in college or graduate school
  • I feel stuck in my job or career. Should I change careers?
  • I had a scary accident and I’m too scared to drive now
  • I never know what to say in social situations and when I do say something I regret it
  • I’m afraid that my partner is going to leave me or have an affair

These worries may be keeping you from performing at your best. As you become more and more cautious and even avoid certain situations or actions, you’re not able to fully live your life. You’re not able to do things you used to enjoy. You’re not able to connect with others in meaningful ways.

How Anxiety Therapy may be helpful

  • Exploring past experiences and other underlying reasons for your anxiety and how your anxiety has been negatively impacting your life
  • Identifying triggers you may have for anxiety
  • Learning mindfulness, body awareness, and relaxation strategies
  • Understanding how our ways of thinking and behaving can contribute to and increase our anxiety. Often our negative thoughts about ourselves and the world keep us anxious.
  • Shifting your ways of thinking and being, to be more in line with what is true about you and the world, and as we do this, you will experience more calm and contentment
  • Taking gradual steps in facing your fears and learning to overcome these fears
  • Acknowledging your worries but not give them power to control you, so you’ll be more able to live your life based on what’s important to you

I’ve worked with many people struggling with anxiety and depression and have helped them to better cope and live their lives more freely and fully, with greater hope. I strive to create a safe and trusting space for you to share about your struggles and be heard. And then we work on trying different ways for you to think and act so you can move forward in your life.
