What you may be experiencing

Glad you came here to see for yourself what I’m about and if therapy might be able to help you. You may be struggling with some of the following things:

Kids Therapy Milpitas
  • Worried and stressed about grades, being bullied, friends, or your future
  • Sad and down, not feeling like doing anything
  • Feeling bad about yourself, not sure who you are
  • Afraid to share with others your struggles
  • Disappointed with your friends and family
  • Anger towards others
  • Feeling hopeless

Or maybe it’s something else.  You may have tried to talk with your friends or parents, or even a counselor at school, but people just don’t seem to listen or get it. They may tell you what to do or say you shouldn’t feel that way. It may just be easier to keep to yourself. You may have tried a lot of different things but nothing seems to really make it better. You may have lost interest in school and doing things that used to be fun for you.

How Kids and Teen Therapy may be helpful

Kids Counseling San Jose
  • I want to hear from you about how things are going, as your parents will share how they see things
  • Therapy is a safe space where you can share without being afraid of being judged or being given advice
  • You can be yourself. We can do things that you like. We’ll talk about things important to you.
  • Identify things you hope will improve or ways you want to be different.
  • Share what you want to be about, who you want to be
  • If you’re not in the mood for talking, that’s okay. We can do other activities
  • Learn ways to improve things and get to where you want to be

I’ve worked with kids of all ages, in elementary, middle and high schools. My hope is to help you be more confident, more sure of who you are and be able to advocate for yourself. We also work to help improve your relationships with your parents, teachers, and friends.

Your parents’ role in therapy and keeping things confidential

For therapy to be more helpful, it’s usually important to work with your parents as well, so they learn how they can best support you. You may be wondering how confidentiality works with your parents. At the beginning of therapy, I make an agreement with you and your parents to keep my sessions with you confidential, with the exception of safety issues. I will go over this in more detail with you and your parents when we meet.
